MiniMed Connect App Reviews

Good, but lots of wasted space

I really like the app, but the page with the uploader, pump, and sensor details is a huge waste of space. The words are enormous, but the details that really matter are extremely small and difficult to read. Improving the user experience is critical to get this up to a 5-star app.

Its a start

Well, I like it and I would purchase again. I like techie toys and it is cool to get info on my iPhone. The connections are a little buggy, but for the most part it works. Most notable is what it doesnt do. Doesnt control the pump, which I didnt expect but would be awesome. Doesnt display all the info: last bolus and amount, last hard reading, it has the info but cant be accessed in app. (Weird thing, the Carelink mobile site intended for sharing data with others actually displays more info, including alarms, just not the personal app) You cant put in notes, which would have kicked it up to four stars at least and doesnt seem like a difficult thing technically or regulatory wise. That would improve the usefulness of Carelink tremendously. Biggest disappointment: doesnt alarm. They missed the opportunity to fix the inadequate pump alarm. THAT would give it five stars and would be a genuine advancement in management AND safety! First iteration, so hopefully improvements will come. Maybe even a link to a nutrition and exercise app. Yeah, those seem important items for interpreting insulin and glucose data. Seems you would want them in Carelink. Out of the gate, it really adds little to management, just cool tech and a more seamless upload. like cool tech so that is well enough, but I hope they can add substance down the road.

Doesnt support HealthKit

Works alright, but only displays 24 hours of CGM data. Why not integrate this with HealthKit, Medtronic?

Its a start

Like others have said, it does give a basic overview of your sensor readings, remaining battery and insulin, but thats about it. I would love if the information could be fed into the apple health app. And alarms are a must! I never even hear the alarms from my pump at night.

I wish...........

This app and hardware fall short of being helpful. I can look at my pump and get the same information. Folks, Im already wearing something. Just another thing to wear. I cant look at the iphone to see what an alarm might mean. I cant adjust the volume of the alarm on either device. (I want it louder) I cant discretely administer more insulin. It doesnt give a daily average, for me to see how the day is going. It does not work with the apple watch. At its best, this is just another device for Medtronic to collect data. Its a good thing that I got this at half price, because it doesnt even approach worthwhile af full price.

Love it when it works.

Many hopeful review with great input to make the app more useful for pump wearers. All for more details, BUT with latest pump, latest iPhone, this app freezes constantly requiring me to shut down, restart phone. Would like updates to address this problem. When it works, it looks great!

9.2 update needed!

Please update the app to support iOS 9.2.

Good information

Right on the phone. This has been great for me. Also, having a colorful screen and graph is so much easier to read than the pump. Pleeeeeeease make an app for the Apple Watch now. Update: Hard to believe this has been out this long and still no Apple Watch or Apple Health support. Other companies are so more attuned to those things. I hope Medtronic can figure out what works well for consumers. Another Update: Another month and no update for the Apple Watch?? Why can all the other companies get their apps on Apple Watch and Medtronic cannot? Losing faith in Medtronic.

Good more features

I like the connect especially in the gym. I can look at my phone instead of pulling my pump out of my pocket. I wish it had more features. Display and accept the notifications. Show boluses and the time of the insulin effectiveness on the chart. Ability to see and change the pump settings.

Wheres the watch app?

Please fix the app so it works on iOS 9.2! You guys know ahead of time when the new iOS is coming out so there little excuse for a 2-week long period where the app doesnt work... Also why doesnt this show manual BGs and insulin data points? No liability there, so should be easy to implement.

Good App ... With Great Potential

Love the ability to discretely see Up to 24hr history of Enlite sensor reading!! Thank you for this tool!! In a future version, please consider the following improvements which can make this app amazing: 1. Please persist at least 1-7 days worth of BG history (you can purge >7days and avoid resynching to last matching value) -- this helps maintain a history of values shared with others. 2. Please include some details captured by the pump- recommend displaying small tic marks (with unique colors) to indicate: a. Bolus entries (and units). b. BG (mg/dl) events captured to sync the sensor. c. Carbs (grams) captured as meals. 3. From the menu, an accessible list of 1-7 days worth of this events listed in #2 (bolus, BG, carbs consumed). 4. One more nice-to-have would include an menu option to review a select set of basic stats/analysis/reports over the same covered timeframe.

Good start

This app is a good start. I think it was developed because Dexcom will soon connect to phones so Medtronic felt behind. Integration with HealthKit and with the iWatch would be amazing. Eventually control of the pump would be the gold standard.

What little it offers is actually a lot.

This is awesome. A great idea. While this app doesnt provide a lot, what it does is open the door to the possibilities. What is offered in this app has worked flawlessly for me. No issues whatsoever. I look forward to the development of this app to include a lot of the same things the CareLink Website offers. In the immediate future I would like the ability to add notes to my daily log through the app. J

Encouraging start

Would like to have notifications in the lock screen and control of the pump from the app. Very good start though!

Minimed connect

I just got a new 530g, can and mini need connect. Just getting it set-up and have an iPhone 6 with iOS 9.2. Disappointed this app has not upgraded. Also, I plan on upgrading iOS as they come out, am I ever going to get to use this device? Very disappointed.

Great but missing things

Agree with others. Feel this is good but lacking many things. Would love to have all the info available on the pump or the carelink site. Would LOVE to be able to enter real notes. I dont recall weeks later why I was high/low. Need an Apple Watch app or notifications ability. Add notifications when low/high. How was this missed?

Update!

I just received the MiniMed connect for Christmas. They fail to update consistently. For iPhone, Apple updates constantly! Well, they dont update the app to go with it. If they respond that they are "working on it"...this has been just under 2 months now and no update from MiniMed.

Good Idea - Needs to be able to upload bg monitor readings

The Connect is a great way to see all of your current info on your phone, but unless you have the newest cgm hardware it is rendered somewhat useless. Minimed needs to allow the glucose meter readings that are sent to the pump to be uploaded into the app. Otherwise this will only benefit a small portion of minimed users and will make the connect a waste of $100

Sadly... Not worth your time

Was so very excited for this! Glad that my husband & other care helpers could access my blood sugars with ease... Sadly no. The app itself rarely works, and after talking & meeting with a Medtronic rep, hoping it was just a fluke, the second connect received doesnt work any better. I have my pump so why do I need the app? The app itself can only be used by the wearer of connect, NOT caregivers. They have to log onto care link, enter username & passwords only to find out there is a weak signal. This is both on wifi & 4g. If my app doesnt show weak signal it shows updating for a long time. Last time I tried it, over 20" before giving up. Nice try Medtronic, but PLEASE dont release products before theyre ready, & in this case... NOT READY. And yes, another reviewer is right in saying that every time you open app, it says that the iOS is outdated but they are working on it. Ive had app & connect for almost two months & error still comes up. Sorry Medtronic, this is a miss especially at such a high cost.

Pretty BUT!

Dev team needs to reassess how app can be at least relatively okay with the latest iOS release. For the sake of sanity at least be forthcoming that the app will not tell the pump to do so much as even silence an alarm. That feature alone would legitimize my making use of my $199 outlay.
