MiniMed Connect App Reviews

An excellent app

This app works amazingly. Easy to set up, it connects quickly, and it updates within a few seconds of a change in the pump or sensor. But there are a couple features Id like to see coming in the future, to make it even better. I know that pump/sensor control from the phone can be a tricky thing to do, but if possible, that would be amazing. Along with that, a watchOS app would be very helpful, but thats just my laziness talking. Lastly, integration with the health app would be a great feature. I mean, the app itself works amazing, but for tracking purposes, if I can see all of my data in one app (the health app), its less strenuous trying to remember where all my data is. All in all, a great app, but there are things Id like to see in the future.

ABSOLUTELY NOT READY!!!!

False advertising! If you have a young child with the pump and cgm you cannot see their information from this app. If YOU wore the cgm why would you want to see the info on your phone when your pump is RIGHT THERE?!? As a parent, you have to log in to carelink in order to check on your childs numbers. You cannot move away from the site even to check a quick text message without having to log back in! ALSO - there are NO ALARMS! The app does NOT alarm of you are going low or high. What is the point?? You have to log in to the carelink site from your phones web browser. The app does NOTHING! Complete waste of money!! Do NOT BUY THE MINIMED CONNECT! It is not ready. Use something that works like modern technology should. Try the dexcom - at least it uses a powerful contemporary app. Why do we have to wait for Medtronic catch up to the world? Terrible technology!

Good product

The MiniMed Connect is helping my endo determine a treatment plan as I type this. He is monitoring my BGs remotely to see if the new insulin dosage is working the way it should. I do wish the app worked for the care partners too though. Also, I dont the the text message alerts are working very well. I went low the other night and insulin delivery was suspended. My husband never received a text. Hopefully these will be fixed in updates. Still love it though. :)

AWESOME FOR SCHOOL

Im 11 and I take this to school ever day and the nurses can see it on their phones and my mom can see it at home its amazing

MINIMED CONNECT

Another great tool from Medtronics. I like it because I was always pulling my pump off my belt to check, my blood sugar, insulin in my reservoir, battery life of my pump, my 24 hour averages and more. Well with the MiniMed Connect I can look at my phone and find all this and more. It is easy to use. In fact I had more trouble finding where to write this review than I have had with the MiniMed Connect. I recommend it to anyone.

Great App

This is an awesome app. It is designed to be installed on the phone of a person with diabetes and transmits information from the pump via Bluetooth to CareLink web site. Parents can view this info from their phones either on CareLink mobile site or get text messages sent by CareLink site to their phones when alarm is generated. This is very convenient to use at night time when you can be woken up by a text message indicating that BG is low or high. Previous reviewer who gave one star apparently misunderstood how the whole system works. So far works pretty well. Next logical enhancement would be to build Minimed Connect device right into the pump. Another more immediate improvement would be to create an app for parents/nurses who can view info and get alerts without the need to login to CareLink site.

Disappointing and overpriced

Can only link to one phone. Was hoping me and my husband would both be able to see what my blood sugar levels are on our phones.

Why Oh Why?

Why make me carry yet another device. I am sure to lose it very soon especially since I dont usually have pockets and the uploader is to big to fit on my necklace. Not a good idea. This one is going back.

Everything I hoped for & more

I love viewing my CGM info on my pump, but for those times when my pump isnt easily accessible, Ive always wished I could see the information else where. This app does just that, allowing me to view my CGM on something I always carry with my anyway - my iPhone. It also gives me status info on active insulin, insulin in my reservoir, how many days are left on my sensor, and the status of my battery. I can also set up notifications so my husband gets texts when my blood sugar is out of range and I havent acted on it. So glad to add this technology to my diabetes arsenal!

Not updated yet?

Shame this great app is not yet developed for 640G pump users...

Good start, but please update with more features

I was very excited to start using my new device, and I have been happy with the interface and abilities thus far. However I find myself wanting more features. I wish there was a way to make my phone buzz for a notification when I am high or low, instead of my pump. I have a hearing loss and often cannot hear my pump notifications, plus I would rather it be a notification on my phone so that only I can see or hear it. Also, if bolus and basal data could be viewed within the app that would be helpful as well. It seems as if this should be possible because it can be uploaded to care link. And lastly, make the care partner section a companion app where the people I add can only see certain what I want to share with them, not the entire upload. The app shouldnt be too difficult to improve upon and add these simple features that will make the connected well worth the money.

Works great, but features lacking.

Beautiful app and a great start. This is something that should have been done ages ago. Sadly, for paying $200 for the connect device all you can really do is look at your blood sugars and upload to Carelink. Im hoping future updates will increase what you can do with the app. Id like there to be a function where you can add notes about meals, activities, reasons for highs/lows etc. This would greatly help to determine reasons for blood sugar trends. It would also be nice to incorporate notifications. No complaints on how the app currently works. It just needs more.

Just a prettier graph than the pump

I was expecting a much more robust system given the $200 price for the Minimed connect transmitter. This app relays the same data viewable on your pump to your phone. What would be truly helpful, are these two things: trends and notifications. I want to be able to see the same reports from Carelink directly on my phone and interact with them. If users were also able to receive notifications for say, falling or rising blood sugar, that would further the value of this app to patients. In its current condition, do not buy unless you have immense disposable income. Until a more comprehensive app is released, I wouldnt recommend this product.

Good start I hope

I guess I was hoping more for a complete carelink app. What the connect does it does well, but it is so limited. The only advantages over looking at my pump are a much clearer display of the graphs and auto upload to carelink. Like other reviews, I was also hoping for more phone integration with alerts/alarms, insulin bolus/basal, and the ability for notes. I dont have an Apple Watch but I would think this should be a priority for both minimed and apple. This would be a killer feature. Guess Ill just have to wait for Glooko integration.

Apple Watch App

Please make this for the Apple Watch. It would be so nice to not have to use my phone and be able to see it on the watch!

Good Start

This is a good start but I would like to see some additional features like; Apple Watch app that allows complications on the watch face, Siri integration "Siri, whats my glucose?", administer bolus control from the app (like the old remote).

Not ready yet!

Absolutely wonderful, until it crashes. Works without Internet for a while, then refuses to work until you connect to the Internet. Totally jammed up my iPod with 7 GB of data. Had to delete app by connecting to computer. Sending back, waiting for better software. Also, needs better battery so it doesnt have to charge every night. Also, appears to send data to Medtronic even when the Carelink function is turned off. Cant wait for the the bugs to get out so I can try it again. Meanwhile, steer clear.

Needs upgrades/to work on Apple Watch

Pricey for Bluetooth transmitter! I was really expecting more; I.e. Alarms, etc.,etc. But most of all being able to interface with my Apple Watch , so all I would need would be to glance at watch for current glucose readings. Nada! Only have app for phone. Upgrade app to work in Apple Watch and Im happy (Had to wait years for Medtronic to finally make "care link" compatible with Mac s system. Dont know what they have against Apple)

Works but has no features

It works, doesn’t crash and those things, but really doesn’t do anything. I was really expecting more from an app like this - notifications on glucose levels, review insulin intake for different days, basal review, integration with Apple Health, etc… The app could have a lot of promise but at this point its just a glorified screen of you blood sugar levels that are shown on the pump.

Good start.. Now bring on the rest!!

I like the display, and especially the remaining life on both reservoir and sensor. Needs more features.. like pump events, carbs, bolus, basal rate changes, alerts, especially the Threshold Suspend alert! Ability to add notes such as activities & meals would be amazing and also necessary (IMHO). Also just maybe the uploader Bluetooth can be built into a future pump model. ? Make it round like a battery and rechargeable and Ill buy a spare. :) Keep the momentum up, please!!
